Where: Starts at Flatbush Avenue Burial Ground, 2286 Church Ave & Bedford Ave, with a procession to Prospect Park Lefferts Historic House

This June, in celebration of Juneteenth, J’Ouvert City International, Inc. invites you to participate in our “3rd Annual Celebration Honoring Our Pan-African Ancestors.” This special event promises an enriching day of reflection, celebration, and education, highlighting the continuous march towards freedom and the enduring spirit of the Pan-African community.

About the Event

The gathering begins at the historic Flatbush Avenue Burial Ground, where we will pay homage to the ancestors with a series of tributes and performances. From there, participants will march to the Prospect Park Lefferts Historic House, continuing the celebration with speeches, music, and dance.

What to Expect

  • Prepare to be inspired by speakers like Baba Myphlo Shanto Menes De Grio t of La Bukoolo, Richard Greene from Crown Heights Youth Collective, and Samantha Berndina, President of FABGC. They will share insights into our history and the significance of Juneteenth.
  • Enjoy performances from the Heartland Drummers, Something Positive, and other groups that celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of the African diaspora.
  • Explore a variety of displays and exhibits that delve into the history and heritage of our ancestors, provided by local historians and cultural organizations.
