As June is Caribbean Heritage Month, the 2025 J’Ouvert poster campaign makes its return with a renewed seasonal theme, Dawn the Opener, honoring the spirit of daybreak, tradition, and pride.
This year’s first posters feature images captured by Keith Getter, spotlighting two unforgettable portrayals that pay homage to African ancestry shared across the Black diaspora:
- Roy Pierre & Associates’ “Kente Kingdom” (2019)
- Power Promotion Family’s “Africa in Our DNA” (2024)
These posters mark the first phase of the campaign rollout and will appear across Brooklyn on LinkNYC kiosks starting mid-June. Two more designs in the Dawn the Opener series will follow in July.
As always, this campaign reflects the vibrancy, resilience, and artistry of our community, one image at a time.
More posters will be revealed later in the season as we head toward J’Ouvert and Carnival weekend. Stay tuned.
